Rearranged fixture sparks appeal to fans

Folkestone Invicta are hoping their fans will turn out in force next Thursday night to see their hastily rearranged Ryman South clash against South Park.

After standing water on the pitch at the Fullicks Stadium, pictured, led to the postponement of the fixture on Tuesday, Invicta officials wasted little time in rearranging their home game with the Sparks, confirming the new date on Wednesday morning.

Invicta manager Neil Cugley said: “Ideally we would not have wanted to play on a Thursday night before April, but South Park already have a lot of games to catch up on next month.

“It was frustrating [that Tuesday’s game was off]. The lads had worked really hard on the pitch, getting it nice and flat on Monday but that early morning downpour caused all the problems.”

Cugley's side travel to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday but have no game on Tuesday night. After playing the Sparks, Guernsey arrive at the Fullicks Stadium on Saturday 14 March in a 1pm lunchtime kick-off.
