Relegation fighters offer free entry to thank fans

Hastings United are offering free entry to Saturday's key clash with Faversham Town to thank fans for their support over the Ryman South campaign.

Officials are also hoping the gesture will encourage another big crowd to get behind Nigel Kane's side who are still not safe from relegation and head into the penultimate weekend of the campaign in the bottom three and in desperate need of a fifth home win of the season.

The turnstile offer at the Pilot Field, pictured, also extends to the fans of the promotion-chasing Lilywhites, no doubt keen to avenge the 5-1 thumping they suffered at the hands of the U's at Salters Lane back in November.

In a statement on their website, the club said: "Despite the fact that results and performances have, on the whole, been hugely disappointing, United can still boast the third highest average attendance in Division One South, trailing only Guernsey and champions Burgess Hill Town in that respect.

"As a gesture of sincere thanks to those who have continued to support the U's throughout such a tough campaign, and to perhaps entice a few more to come along for this vital fixture, the club has decided to offer free admission to everyone on Saturday."
