Renner returns to be reunited with Gardner

Aveley manager Justin Gardner has brought Victor Renner back to the Ryman North club as a second assistant manager.

Gardner moved quickly to appoint Renner, pictured, ahead of the start of pre-season following the departure of first team coach Dave Bricknell from The Mill Field at the end of the last campaign.

A former striker at a number of sides including Waltham Forest, Renner took his first steps into management as assistant manager at the former Ryman League club before holding the same role at Potters Bar Town.

A delighted Gardner is looking now forward to seeing Renner working alongside Anton Stephenson who is remaining as his other number two but will take on more coaching responsibilities in the wake of Bricknell's exit.

Gardner said: "I'm buzzing to be able to bring back Victor to the football club, people love him and the players will do to, he's a great person to have in the changing room.

"With this experience in this league and also in leagues above he can bring a positive attitude for the club for the up and coming season.

"He'll probably be up there with one of my best signings of the season. The success I had here at the club was with his help and I'm hoping to bring that back this new season."
