Carshalton Athletic closed the gap at the top of the South Division to three points last night with a thrilling victory over leaders Lewes.
After two drawn matches and only one goal during their previous five halves of football, home supporters must have been concerned that the Robins previous free-scoring form had deserted them, but it came back with a vengeance in a frantic second forty five minutes during which five goals were scored. Athletic took the lead through Ricky Korboa seven minutes after the break, and then doubled their advantage through Mikel Miller six minutes later, but this Lewes side, unbeaten in the league since mid October, were made of stern stuff and were soon level, goals from Sow and Brotherton doing the damage. But the Robins were not to be denied, and with fourteen minutes on the clock a pass from player-manager Peter Adeniyi was expertly turned in by Miller, albeit with help from the post.
There are a number of matches scheduled in all Divisions this evening, but many are subject to pitch inspections as the big freeze continues. Keep an eye on the fixtures tab here and on social media and we shall try and keep you updated if any are postponed- there are a number of early inspections.
