Ryman League Carshalton Athletic are set to pick up their UEFA silver medal before England take on Scotland at Wembley.

The Ryman Premier's Robins are being rewarded on Wednesday night before the renewal of football's oldest international rivalry after being named by European football's governing body as the silver medal winners in their annual 'Best Grassroots Club in Europe' competition.

Ryman League Chairman Alan Turvey and Vice Chairman Nick Robinson will be among the FA's guests at the Teenage Cancer Trust International to see Carshalton Athletic Chairman Paul Dipre collect the European accolade before kick off.

The international is being staged as part of the Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations and the Surrey-based club are being honoured on the pitch after finishing just behind a Netherlands-based multi-club programme to promote ladies football.

The Robins were nominated for the European award after winning the FA's equivalent honour in 2012, the 'National Community Club of the Year' award. The Euro win is the fourth accolade the Robins have scooped in just under two years as a result of their community club status.

In 2012 the club also scooped the Surrey FA's Community Club of the Year and the South East Regional Community Club of the Year awards for their on-going work which now sees almost 50 teams ranging from child to adult and including disabled sides, playing under the Carshalton banner.
