Rogers arrives on loan as cover for key games

Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley has signed experienced midfielder James Rogers on a month’s loan at the Ryman South leaders from National League South Maidstone United.

Cugley, a long-time admirer of the 30-year-old, pictured after signing a new deal at the Gallagher Stadium in May following the club's promotion as Ryman Premier champions, brought him in on Wednesday as cover for six key league games over September with a number of his current squad struggling for fitness.

Rogers previously played a couple of games on loan at Cheriton Road but was recalled by the Stones midway through his spell. Dover-born and still living in the town, the primarily left-sided player has had two spells with his home town club as well as helping United secure the Ryman Premier Division championship and promotion in May.

Rogers has also enjoyed successful spells at both Margate and Dartford and a delighted Cugley said: “I’m really pleased to have got him. He gives us just the kind of experienced we need to get through the busy month we’ve got ahead of us."

He added: “James is an excellent player who’s done well wherever he’s been and I know that he can do a good job for us.”
