Rooks go goal crazy, Greens stay at the summit, and Canvey win a thriller!

As you were at the top of our three divisions, but much excitement nonetheless

Lewes put in the performance of the day across our three divisions yesterday, as they walloped seven (SEVEN!) second half goals at the Dripping Pan against hapless Herne Bay to record an eight-one victory and remain top of the South Division table. Closest rivals Sittingbourne were held to a one-all draw at home to Chipstead, and that gives the Rooks a five point gap at the summit.

Back in the Premier Division, Hendon remain in charge, but they had to come from behind to record a 2-1 victory at bottom club Worthing. Two goals in the last eighteen minutes including a winner for Josh Walker three minutes from time gave them the points. Dulwich Hamlet remain second, winning a thrilling match against Burgess Hill Town by the odd goal in five, whilst Billericay Town were back in League action and recorded a 2-1 home victory over Enfield Town, also having to come from behind to win with a Sam Deering strike six minutes from time. Former leaders Leiston suffered a surprising home defeat as Folkestone Invicta hit five in Suffolk to move up to thirteenth.

Staines Town were put under the cosh by Leatherhead in the first half at Wheatsheaf Park, but managed to grab a goal as the Tanners squandered their chances, before easing to two more in the second half to run out 3-0 winners and move up to fifth. Our Bostik Matchday feature can be found here. Merstham were entertaining Lowestoft Town in a match that had close encounter written all over it, but it turned out to be anything but close as the Moatsiders- or, given this weeks new stadium sponsorship, perhaps the Specsavers- ran out 6-2 victors. There were also victories for Brightlingsea Regent, Tooting & Mitcham United, Dorking Wanderers, Metropolitan Police and Kingstonian, whilst Harlow Town and Margate played out a 1-1 draw.

In the North Division Canvey Island stay at the top of the pile, with a hard fought 3-2 victory over AFC Sudbury, whilst Dereham Town remain in second place, 2-0 victors at Cheshunt. AFC Hornchurch and Haringey Borough remain undefeated in third and fourth place, with victories at Soham Town Rangers and at home to Norwich United respectively, whilst Heybridge Swifts 2-0 victory at Mildenhall Town leaves them in seventh place, nine points behind the leaders but with a massive five games in hand.

The big news from the South Division was the resignation of Whyteleafe manager Leigh Dynan, who joined Kingstonian after Leafe's draw with Greenwich Borough- news here. Amongst the other results Carshalton Athletic got back to winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Ashford United, Phoenix Sports also hit four, against Ramsgate, and Corinthian Casuals are in third place after defeating Hastings United 3-2.
