Brightlingsea Regent's assistant manager Tom Rothery is leaving the Ryman North club.

Rothery, pictured, has announced his exit from North Road after three and half years as manager James Webster’s number two and head coach.

Since Regent's promotion into the Ryman League as Eastern Counties League runners-up last season, Rothery has helped the Essex club exceed all expectations in their debut season at the highest level in their history with a sixth place finish as they just missed out on the play-offs.

A UEFA B qualified coach, he joined the club in the 2011-12 season as head coach before becoming assistant manager and head coach at the start of the 2012-13 campaign.

Rothery, who was also Brightlingsea’s secretary, said: "I’m sad to say that I’ve decided to leave Brightlingsea. It’s been a tough call but I feel I’ve made the right decision."
