Rovers name Butterworth as permanent boss

Great Wakering's interim manager gets the job

Steve Butterworth was appointed interim player-manager of Great Wakering Rovers after previous manager Gary Kimble left the club in January. Yesterday Rovers confirmed that Butterworth has now been given the job on a permanent basis.

In the fourteen matches played since Butterworth was appointed, his side have shown definite signs of progress, culminating in their victory over champions Bowers and Pitsea at the weekend. The player-manager has named himself only sparingly- and always on the bench- since taking up the role, but did manage to come on and score against AFC Sudbury on February 23rd.

Simon Glover will remain as Player/Assistant Manager and Martin Tuohy will be joining the back room staff.
