Ryman North's midweek action review

Ryman League North Division

VCD Athletic took over top spot in Ryman North night ahead of this weekend's action after Ola Rabiu grabbed a last minute winner in their 3-2 victory over Chatham Town on Tuesday night.

The Vickers overhauled Witham Town and lead the table by a point with a game in hand after their rivals were held 0-0 at home by fourth placed Needham Market.

Sherwin Stanley put VCD ahead after seven minutes before Andy Constable equalised from the penalty spot on 39 minutes. He equalised for a second time from the spot just after the hour mark after Enoch Adjei had given VCD the lead on the stroke of half time. Rabiu in the dying seconds ensured the home side maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Heybridge Swifts are up into third after they also left it late to take maximum points in a 2-1 home win over Harlow Town on Tuesday night, Tom Holdstock grabbing the winner three minutes from time after Luke Callander's third minute goal had been cancelled out by Leon Antoine for the Hawks on 33 minutes.

At the other end of the table Waltham Forest missed the chance to climb off the bottom when they were well beaten 4-0 at home by Cheshunt on Wednesday night. Ambers caretaker manager Omer Riza did the damage himself with all four goals after break, the former Arsenal striker scoring on 64, 81 and 88 minutes before converting a last minute penalty.

In Wednesday night's only other game Romford leap-frogged Barkingside in midtable with a convincing 4-1 win at home. It hadn't started well with Toran Senghore giving the visitors a first minute lead but Tom Richardson had other ideas with a hat-trick of goals on 20, 31 and 73 minutes.

Burnham Ramblers took their chance to climb away from trouble with a 2-1 home win over third from bottom Ware, Billy Hunt scoring either side of the break on 16 and 57 minutes. Spencer Knight did pull one back for the visitors from the spot after 22 minutes but the North's newcomers held out for three valuable points.

Erith & Belvedere also took maximum points as they settle into Ryman North, James Miller's goal on a stroke of half time the only difference between the Deres and Thurrock.

Dereham Town also climbing after overcoming Soham Town Rangers 3-1 at home. Kyle Downes set Town on their way after 13 minutes and Danny Beaumont grabbed a second five minutes after the break. Samuel Borrer netted a third in the last minute, his strike rendering James Mccabe's goal for the visitors seconds earlier a consolation only.

It was as you were at Redbridge who shared a 1-1 draw with Tilbury who are now just a place below them on goal difference. The Motormen looked to be heading for all three points when Patrick Damali gave them the lead with a quarter of an hour to play but Daniel Francis popped up with a 90th minute leveller.

Fourth from bottom Wroxham are no better off ahead of this weekend after losing to 3-2 at home to AFC Sudbury. The Suds were forced to come behind after Paul Cook on three minutes and Remy Gordon after 17 had give Woxham an early two goal cushion. Matt Daniels, two minutes before the break and Scott Mitchell on 66, restored parity before James Baker fired home the winner with less than a quarter of an hour to go.
