Samba Sports Golden Gloves Awards- February 2019

By Ian Townsend

Who had the meanest defence in February? Read on to find out!

Samba Sports are the UK's leading manufacturer of goals- and you can visit their website here. What you'll find, however, is that they are about much more than just the provision of goals! From balls to gloves, from corner flags to water bottles, from coaching aids to captains armbands, if you need it for your club the chances are that Samba will have it (note: they can't supply you with a free-scoring centre forward). They can ever provide you with new dugouts if the old ones are letting in the rain!

Thanks to Samba for their support- and here are our February winners:

Premier Division

Dorking Wanderers used February to soar clear at the top of the Bostik Premier Division, scoring seventeen goals in the process- but perhaps just as important was what happened at the other end, where they conceded…One. Only one solitary goal crept past Slavomir Huk and his miserly defence, which is why our gloves are on their way to Meadowbank.

North Division

Four matches, four victories, one goal conceded- the Seed Growers spent February cementing their place in the Bostik North Playoff positions. Danny Sambridge kept goal throughout, as Mildenhall Town, Canvey Island, Grays Athletic and- the scorer of that solitary goal- Romford were expertly despatched.

Congrats go to Danny and his defence.

South Central Division

Undefeated in February, Tooting and Mitcham United climbed to just outside of the playoff places and only conceded three goals in the process. Two keepers were involved- Morgan Campbell and David Trivino- so they’ll need to argue amongst themselves about who gets the prize.

South East Division

Last month, as you might recall, this award went to Horsham keeper Josh Pelling. This month- well, why buck an established trend? With three clean sheets and only two goals conceded, the Hornets were undefeated in February- and Josh was ever-present, so another set of gloves are heading to him at Culver Road.

Where next?

Easy as one, two, three...Bantick's a Miller Forward signs for his third playoff chasing club of the campaign
