Ryman League Premier Division

Newly-promoted Dulwich Hamlet returned to the Ryman Premier with an opening day victory over pre-season title favourites Lowestoft Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Goals in each half, llis Green on 26 minutes and Erhun Oztumer from the penalty spot after 73, gave ten-man Dulwich a 2-0 home win over the Trawler Boys.

Maidstone United – promoted with Dulwich from Ryman South – had to be content with a point from a 1-1 home draw with Wealdstone in front of a bumper crowd of 2,138.

Rory Hill gave the Stones the lead right on half-time, only for Chris Moore to pull the 'other' Stones back on terms 12 minutes into the second half.

The two sides promoted from Division One North endured a mixed day.

Thamesmead Town, playing at their highest level ever, were beaten 4-0 at home by Hendon, Casey McLaren gave the visitors a 29th minute lead that much-travelled striker Jefferson Louis doubled on 78 minutes.

Two goals in the final five minutes from Anthony Thomas and Brendon Horner completed a good afternoon for Gary McCann`s side.

Grays Athletic, a seasoned side at this and higher levels, beat Bognor Regis Town 3-0 win at Nyewood Lane with goals from Joao Carlos after 21 minutes, Jack West on 64 and Aaron Gonzales 12 minutes from time.

Lewes started well the season with a win under Garry Wilson and Danny Bloor, beating AFC Hornchurch 1-0 courtesy of an 18th minute Ade Olorunda effort.

Billericay Town, who came down from Conference South with the Urchins, shared a 1-1 draw at Earlsmead with Harrow Borough, whose Shaun Lucian cancelled out Evans Kouassi`s 29th minute opener with 13 minutes remaining.

Kingstonian's Andre McCollin scored from the penalty spot after 12 minutes at Canvey Island and that proved to be enough for Alan Dowson's side.

At Enfield, Liam Hope bagged an opening day brace to help the home side to a 2-1 home win over Metropolitan Police. Hope's goals came in the 21st and 64th minutes, with Dave Knight replying for the Met 11 minutes from time.

Leiston enjoyed a 4-1 home win over Cray Wanderers with Joe Francis giving the Suffolk side an early ninth minute lead that Tommy Whitnell cancelled out on 26 minutes.

But Craig Parker on 55 minutes, David Head on 72 and Gareth Heath five minutes from the end earned Leiston a comfortable win.

Wingate & Finchley also hit four at home against Carshalton Athletic, who were unable to respond. Leon Smith scored the only goal of the opening half from the spot in the 14th minute.

Marc Weatherstone added the second eight minutes after the break. Hector Mackie on 71 minutes and Ahmet Rifat four minutes from time, completed the scoring.

Margate fell behind at the Beveree to a 25th minute Charlie Moone penalty. However, the Kent outfit equalised through Phil Walsh after 69 minutes and then won it in injury-time, courtesy of Matt Bodkin.

East Thurrock United went into the second half at Bury Town's Rookery 2-0 up, thanks to a David Bryant brace on 30 and 39 minutes. But Ryan Clark on 55 minutes and Adam Bailey-Dennis 19 minutes from time, salvaged a point for the Blues.
