Saturday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

Ryman League

There were only three Ryman League Premier Division matches on Saturday due to the FA Trophy but one of those involved leaders Margate, who strode seven points clear of second-placed Maidstone United after a 3-1 win at Hartsdown Park over mid-table Bognor Regis Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

In front of a decent crowd of 550, Luke Moore gave Margate an early seventh minute lead. Half-an-hour later Lewis Taylor doubled the home side's lead from the penalty spot after visiting keeper Chris Winterton brought down Ryan Moss in the box.

Moss added the third with 16 minutes of the match remaining, with Dan Sackman netting a stoppage time consolation for the Rocks.

Wingate & Finchley moved back up to sixth after a 2-0 win at the Harry Abrahams Stadium against Canvey Island.

Rob Laney gave the hosts a 38th minute lead that James Kaloczi doubled 10 minutes into the second half.

Billericay Town are up to eighth after a 2-1 win at New Lodge against third-bottom VCD Athletic.

A Richard Halle penalty gave the Blues a 10th minute lead that Glenn Poole eventually added to with 20 minutes remaining. Marcus Power scored a last-gasp consolation for the Vickers.
