Saturday's Ryman Premier action review

Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson declared that if the Beavers attacked Ryman Premier leaders Margate on Saturday they would win - and he was as good as his word, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Hampton produced the result of their season so far as Terry Brown's side had no answer at the Beveree.

Hampton went into the lead after 45 minutes, Charlie Moone finishing expertly from 25-yards out. Things got better for the home fans, despite the best efforts of Brown's men to get back into the contest, striker Nick Bignall added his name to the scoresheet to confirm three vital points eight minutes from time.

Margate's disappointment was tempered somewhat by the news that second-placed Maidstone United suffered something of an FA Cup hangover by losing by the same scoreline at Imber Court against a now sixth-placed Metropolitan Police.

Jack Knight gave the Met a 10th minute lead that substitute Matt Pattison eventually doubled with nine minutes remaining. The Stones remain seven points behind Margate but possess four games in hand.

Hendon moved to within a point of the Stones in third after winning 3-1 at Ram Meadow to dump Bury Town to the bottom of the table.

Leon Smith gave the visiting Greens a 21st minute lead that Russell Short cancelled out after 34 minutes. But a Kezie Ibe brace – the first right on the half-time whistle – and the second four minutes into injury-time at the end of the game, saw Hendon home.

Leiston and Dulwich Hamlet complete the top five, and both won on Saturday, the former 2-0 at the appropriately-named Victory Road against a now seventh-placed Wingate & Finchley.

Joe Jefford put the Suffolk hosts in front after 17 minutes and then Adam Tann added a second with eight minutes of the first half remaining.

A debut goal from Jack Dixon after 19 minutes a second half goals from Nyren Clunis on 56 minutes and a first competitive goal from Omar Koroma on 72 minutes, gave Hamlet victory at Harrow Borough, who had won their previous two matches to take them out of the relegation spots. Greg Ngoyi netted their consolation eight minutes from time.

Two of the four teams below Harrow picked up points on Saturday.

AFC Hornchurch moved off the bottom of the table after sharing a 1-1 Essex derby draw with East Thurrock United at Bridge Road, David Bryant levelling with nine minutes of the first half remaining after George Purcell gave the Urchins a 12th minute lead.

Lewes moved to within a point of Harrow after a 2-2 draw with a Witham Town side who are level on points with Dave Anderson`s side.

The Essex side will be kicking themselves all the way back home after throwing away a 2-0 lead, earned by new signing Luke Callander after 42 minutes and then Josh Banton 12 minutes into the second half. Rooks sub Luke Blewden reduced the arrears with seven minutes to go and then Nathan Crabb popped up with the equaliser three minutes into injury-time.

Tonbridge Angels gave themselves a four-point cushion from the drop zone after winning 3-0 at third-bottom VCD Athletic.

Dee Okojie gave the visitors an 11th minute lead that Alex Teniola doubled on 25 minutes. Flavio Tavares made sure with a third with less than two minutes to go.

Leatherhead also pulled well away from the bottom four after a stunning 5-2 win at Piddinghoe Avenue against Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Kiernan Hughes-Mason gave the Tanners a 20th minute lead that a Joe Bruce own goal levelled nine minutes later. Becka Dembele restored the visitors` lead 3 minutes before the break, only for Jamie Brotherton to equalise seven minutes after it.

But Marc Knee was sent-off for a second yellow and Leatherhead took full advantage, running out 5-2 winners with further goals from Mark Nwadike with two in two minutes midway through the half and Vasile Karagannis eight minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Bognor Regis Town moved into eighth spot after beating Canvey Island 2-1 at Nyewood Lane.

Ollie Pearce broke the deadlock to give the Rocks the lead 10 minutes after half-time. Jack Simmons equalised with 14 minutes to go, only for defender James Crane to grab Bognor`s winner five minutes from time.

Enfield Town`s improved form saw them win 1-0 at Kingsmeadow against inconsistent Kingstonian, Mark Kirby grabbing the only goal of the game with less than nine minutes remaining.

Grays Athletic won the Essex derby at Mill Field 2-0 against Billericay Town.

It looked like heading for a goalless draw until Grays brought on Dumebi Dumaka, who broke the deadlock in the 81st minute – 10 minutes after coming on – and then Joao Carlos made sure with a second four minutes from the end.
