Saturday's Ryman South action review

By David Watters

Folkestone Invicta maintained their dominance in Ryman South on Saturday, a 3-1 derby win over Sittingbourne giving them a fourteen-point cushion over second-placed Worthing, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A crowd of 352 at the Fullicks Stadium saw Miles Cornwell give Bourne a surprise 44th minute lead. Five minutes after the break Ian Draycott levelled and on 62 minutes Callum Wraight had Invicta in front, with Harry Smith making sure with an 80th minute second.

Worthing were 3-0 winners over fellow top five side Herne Bay in front of a good crowd of 434 at Woodside Road.

Omar Bugiel put the Rebels in front after 23 minutes and Bay suffered a double dismissal in the 38th minute with Sam Hasler for violent conduct and Dan Parkinson for dissent both seeing red. Three minutes ahead of the break Matt Axell added a second, with Ben Pope making it 3-0 on 65 minutes.

Dorking Wanderers and Guernsey FC complete the top five, with the latter playing on Sunday when they host Faversham Town.

Dorking secured a 1-0 home win over fellow contenders Ramsgate, courtesy of a 39th minute Tom Tolfrey effort.

Corinthian-Casuals, Faversham Town, Hastings United, Hythe Town, Ramsgate and even eleventh-placed Molesey are all within reasonable distance of the top five.

Casuals saw off Chatham Town 4-0 at King George`s Field, thanks to Emmanuel Akokhia right on half-time, Ben King just after it and then Niall Wright and Shaun Okojie in the final 17 minutes.

Hastings were 4-2 winners at Stompond Lane against lowly Walton & Hersham, who trailed after just four minutes to Tyrell Richardson-Brown`s effort.

Ollie Rowe doubled Hastings` lead on 23 minutes only for veteran Richard Pacquette to reduce the Swans lead on the half-hour mark. Pacquette then equalised on 63 minutes, only for Zac Attwood on 66 minutes and then Sam Crutwell eight minutes from time to take the game away from the hosts.

Hythe`s Jack Harris scored the only goal inside the opening four minutes at Colston Lane in a 1-0 win against Carshalton Athletic.

Elsewhere, bottom-markers Whitstable Town are looking like needing snookers to get out of relegation trouble after a 4-2 Belmont defeat by Whyteleafe left them fifteen points from safety.

Stuart King bagged a brace for the Oystermen but he was outgunned by Vernon Francis with two, Shawn Lyle and a Conner Heffernan own goal.

The only other game to beat the wet saw Tooting & Mitcham United ease to a 4-1 Imperial Fields victory over South Park.

Chace O`Neil gave the Terrors a seventh minute lead that Dylan Merchant cancelled out.

Serge Makofo restored the home side`s advantage a minute before the break and then Matt Price after 72 minutes and Jordan Wilson six minutes from the end completed a comfortable win for the home side.
