Scholars launch funding appeal

Potters Bar Town need a new stand-or else. And they've launched an appeal to help pay for it.

Potters Bar Town have had a very solid start to their first stint at Step Three, with eight victories so far helping them to fifteenth in the Bostik Premier Division. But they've apparently got a problem on the horizon- and if they can't solve it, they might end up back at Step Four. The club have launched a Go Fund Me appeal to try and raise fifteen thousand pounds towards the cost of two new stands to hold 200 people.

The cost of the seating will be fifty thousand pounds, but the Football Foundation will cover up to seventy percent of that, which is why the club have set their target at fifteen thousand. The snag, as they explain, is that under FA Rules if the work is not completed by the end of March then enforced demotion will follow.

Peter and Carole Waller have made a personal plea for help.

'As we have been involved at the Club for over 50 years now, our greatest achievement, gaining promotion, is being threatened by the possibility of immediate relegation. This will have a devastating effect on the Club, our Players and Supporters and the Town. Today, as a Community Club, it is not just about football, we all contribute to the good health and comfort of those watching. We are doing everything to raise funds, but as time is so short, we need to ask for help. Please support us if you can and thank you.'
