Ryman North Tilbury skipper Aaron Waters is on the road to recovery after becoming the second Docker in a week to end up in hospital.

The versatile Waters, pictured, suffered a neck injury just over an hour into Saturday’s 4-0 defeat in the FA Cup at the hands of Ryman North rivals Aveley.

The 22-year-old, who plays mainly at left-back but can operate in midfield and the centre of defence, is said to have fallen badly at Chadfields. After a 50 minute delay to the First Qualifying Round tie while he was treated o the pitch, pictured, he was taken to hospital.

Waters is in his second spell with the Dockers and has made more than 70 appearances for the club. Relieved officials say he was released by doctors later in the evening with severe whiplash from the top of his neck to the bottom of his spine and sent home with strong painkillers.

The injury to the club's captain followed a heart scare for defender Joe Nightingill who was hospitalised last Saturday night after being taken ill with chest pains while warming up at Ship Lane for Tilbury’s 2-2 draw with Romford in Ryman North.
