Nine year old Darcy embarks on penalty shoot out challenge for Hospice

Darcy Marks began playing football at four years old. Now a comparative veteran at the age of nine, the striker has already scored twenty six goals for Essex RTC Under 10's this season, and has now embarked on a quest to find the back of the net even more regularly- and to raise money for St Luke's Hospice in Basildon.

When Darcy- who lives in Laindon and is supported by her Dad, Dean- decided that she wanted to be a fundraiser, it seemed obvious that her challenge would have to be somehow football related, so she came up with the idea of raising money by taking penalties against senior goalkeepers in the Essex area. With help from our Bostik Clubs she is due to start her quest on Saturday (weather permitting), taking penalties against the Heybridge Swifts keeper at Scraley Road, before moving on to do the same at Aveley FC the following weekend, then Bowers & Pitsea, Grays Athletic and Basildon United of the Essex Senior League. She is also awaiting dates to show her shooting skills at Leyton Orient and Romford.

Keep hitting the back of the net Darcy- you're an inspiration!
