Six point target for Levoli caretaker

Craig Shipman will boost his chances of becoming Brentwood Town's new manager if he can earn successive wins in Ryman North on Tuesday night as the temporary successor to Tony Levoli.

The first team coach guided the Blues to a 3-0 win over Dereham Town on Saturday and three vital points to lift them 13 points clear of the drop zone as caretaker following the departure of Levoli, pictured, ahead of the weekend's action.

Appointed in May 2016, former Greenhouse London, Waltham Forest and Wadham Lodge boss Levoli left The Arena at the Brentwood Centre by mutual consent with his side third from bottom having kicked off the campaign with high hopes of bouncing back to the Ryman League's top flight at the first attempt following relegation last season.

After guiding the Essex club to their fourth win in five home games to climb to fourth from bottom, former Great Wakering Rovers U21s assistant manager Shipman's next test comes at bottom-markers Wroxham in midweek before a daunting trip to second-placed Maldon & Tiptree on Saturday.

The Blues paid tribute to Levoli in a statement announcing his departure: “Brentwood Town Football Club can confirm that we have parted company with our manager Tony Levoli by mutual consent.

"Tony took in the position in May 2016 and immediately set about rebuilding the side that had been relegated from the Ryman Premier League.

"Led by Tony, the team played exciting football that was complimented on by all teams that we played. We would like to thank Tony for all his efforts in the role and wish him well for the future."

The Blues added: "The club will be making further statements on the manager position in due course.”
