The Ryman South leaders are urging their own fans and others from around the Ryman to support the 'indoor' efforts of the photographer for Aspire, a charity providing equipment and care for people living with spinal cord injuries.
Instead of risking the busy sea lanes, officials say their 'unofficial official photographer' is planning to swim half a mile to a mile a day three or four times a week over the next three months until she has clocked up the full distance of the swim from Dover to Calais.
A spokesman said: “If you would like to help in supporting this very worthwhile cause then you can do so either by throwing some cash her way at any TMUFC game over the next few weeks or alternatively you can donate by card through her Just Giving page. Thank you for your support and the best of luck to Sam in her endeavour.”

The Terrors fundraiser, who's already raised more than £200 in sponsorship, said: "Every eight hours someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury and Aspire provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently. This is a big challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make, so please be generous!"
