Stats one for the next quiz ...

By David Watters

The Ryman League's statisticians have a new question for their club's future quiz nights after the 2015-16 promotion play-off finals through up a corker.

Three proved to be the lucky number linking all three promoted play-offs winners after Worthing, Harlow Town and East Thurrock United all secured third places finishes in the final tables before going on to triumph.

Five won't be far behind as the answer for quizmasters handing out bonus points as all three of their opponents also secured the fifth and final play-off berths to meet them in their respective finals.

In Ryman South runners-up Dorking Wanderers missed out after losing to Faversham Town, defeated 3-0 at Woodside Road by Gary Elphick's Rebels in the first of the Bank Holiday weekend's finals on Saturday.

In Sunday's Ryman North final, Danny Chapman's Hawks beat AFC Hornhcurch 3-1 at the Harlow Arena, the Urchins making the final after ending the promotion dreams of runners-up Thurrock in their midweek semi-final.

John Coventry and his East Thurrock United side won Bank Holiday Monday's Ryman Premier final at Rookery Hill with victory over Dulwich Hamlet by the same scoreline. Like the Hawks, the Rocks finished 10 points ahead of their final rivals for promotion. In going up, the Rebels posted a closer points difference over the Lilywhites of five points.
