Striker won't be a stranger to club

The former Football League hot-shot with Yeovil Town was stretchered off before half-time at Burgess Hill Town last Saturday after scoring the opening goal of his side's 3-0 victory.

McCollin, 31, arrived at the Longmead Stadium in May having scored 15 goals in 23 appearances last term during his second spell at Kingstonian. Despite the blow, the former Corinthian Casuals, Fisher Athletic, Aldershot and Cray Wanderers forward remains upbeat and told supporters on Thursday that he still hopes to play a major part in the 2016-17 campaign.

In an interview for the Angels website, he said: "I was following the game [against Wingate & Finchley] on Tuesday, I was checking the score every ten minutes. I'll be following all the scores and as soon as I'm up and able to I'll be coming to home games.

"I'm not just going to hide away because the club's been so supportive to me. I want to repay that by getting back as quickly as possible and scoring some goals.

"I've broken the fibula and torn ligaments in my ankle. I'm getting two screws put in my ankle. That's the bit they're most worried about. Because the leg is a clean break they're not too concerned about that. I'm quite a naturally fit person and the doctor said in eight weeks I'll be out of the cast."

He added: "I've had a few nice messages from fans who've wished me well but I'm not on Twitter, I'm only on Instagram. Tina and Melvyn, Steve and the management team have all been very supportive. It's very encouraging they're all behind me."
