The Metropolitan Police might have been held to a goalless draw by Kingstonian over the weekend but that didn't dampen the celebrations laid on by the Ryman Premier club's proud officials to mark the 300th appearance of their popular skipper Steve Sutherland.

Signed by the Met back in 2007, the 32-year-old former Walton Casuals and Tooting & Mitcham United defender is pictured being presented with an engraved club decanter at Imber Court before kick-off by club chairman Des Flanders.

After another top quality display marshalling his side's backline to successfully shut out their rivals for a play-off spot and stay four points and four places clear of K's, Sutherland also went home with man-of-the-match award.

On top of the presentation and celebrations for the club's reigning 'player of the year', the Met also teamed up with the K's to mark their latest meeting in a Surrey derby with the crowd of nearly 400 bolstered by mascots and youngsters from the youth sections of both top flight clubs.

Met spokesman and press officer Graham Wettone said: "Steve was given an engraved club decanter which was quickly handed over to his lovely wife Parisa as he had another match to play in!

"The teams walked out with their respective mascots and this was all arranged by some great co-operation between both clubs. Our grateful thanks to all the parents for bringing the children along and especially Sally Brown from Kingstonian FC and our own Lisa Ness and Daron Blenkley."
