Supreme Trophies and Engraving - Performance of the Month, April 2019

By Ian Townsend

The shortlist was a long list, but here’s what we decided!

Our victors for April are as follows:

Premier Division: Folkestone Invicta didn’t quite manage to break into our Playoff positions despite a late season surge, but they did manage a number of impressive victories. On April 20th Haringey Borough headed to the Fullicks and left on the end of a four-nil hiding, which earned Invicta our April award.

North Division: Our North Division champions, Bowers and Pitsea, lost only one home match all season. On that basis, it seemed only right and proper to give the April award to the side that beat them!

Heybridge Swifts were that side, and given they also managed to defeat second placed Aveley and third placed Maldon and Tiptree shortly afterwards, that victory was certainly no fluke. Despite falling behind early on, Julian Dicks’ side hit back with three goals to claim an impressive victory.

South Central Division: Egham Town haven’t had much of a season, but there were a few bright moments, and one of them came last month. Second placed Bracknell Town headed to Runnymede, and left with nothing, heading back to Larges Lane on the end of a two-one defeat.

It won’t do much to dampen the misery of relegation, but perhaps it should prove that the Sarnies have the quality to bounce back.

South East Division:

Our Champions, Cray Wanderers, seemed to be ensuring business as usual when they went three-one up at home to Sevenoaks Town with only eighteen minutes remaining. So the home fans at Hayes Lane must have been left rather stunned when the opposition hit back with three of their own to take a four-three victory.

The Oaks have had a marvellous first season at our level, and perhaps this award will be the icing on the celebration cake.
