Lucas Fettes Youth Cup Final

Sutton United’s young stars will be hoping to go one better than last year on Tuesday night and lift the Ryman League’s Lucas Fettes Youth Cup.

The Conference South club’s U18s reached the final last May and after losing 1-0 to Staines Town, will be hoping to win the competition for the second time when they take on Potters Bar Town on home turf at Gander Green Lane.

Both sides reached the final after penalty shoot-out wins in their respective semi-finals.

United, managed by James Bracken, beat Burgess Hill Town at the Green Elephants Stadium 3-2 after the sides drew 1-1. Potters Bar Town are managed by John Gibbs and overcame Worthing 4-3 on spot-kicks after they drew 3-3 at Woodside Road.

Sutton United won the competition for the first time in 2012 with a 3-0 victory over Brentwood Town. Along with the competition’s sponsors, Lucas Fettes and Partners, the former Isthmian League club's officials have been thanked by the Ryman League for their efforts in staging this year’s fixture ahead of the 7.30pm kick-off.

Ryman League Chairman Alan Turvey said: "My congratulations and best wishes go out to both sides and we are very grateful to Sutton United Football Club for their work, help and support in staging the Youth Cup Final.

"This season’s competition is being sponsored for the fifth time by Lucas Fettes and Partners, and we thank them for their interest and support they have shown to this cup competition again this season."
