Tangerines change their chief

Long-serving Ashford Town boss steps down, to be replaced by long-serving colleague

Ashford Town last night announced that manager Ben Murray had decided to step down from the role, after six years in charge. Ben, who has been with the club for sixteen years in total, made a statement on the club website:

“After careful consideration and following discussions with my staff, my players and the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down as 1st Team manager of the club, with immediate effect.

I am extremely grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for 16 years, working up from coaching an Under 9s age group all the way through to Under 18s midweek, Reserves and then being given the opportunity to manage the club’s 1st team for 6 years."

The club have already announced that Ben's replacement will be Russell Canderton- and that his Assistant will be Scott Weight, two individuals who between them have turned out more than one thousand times for the Tangerines.
