Folkestone Invicta are backing former striker Johan Ter Horst to win more laurels for the Ryman South club after learning that he could be crowned the Sports Star of the Year at the 2014 Herald Sports Award.

The hot-shot, 19, won a move to Premier League Hull City in the summer after an outstanding season for Neil Cugley’s side and is among three finalists bidding for the media group's prestigious title at Eastwell Manor in Ashford on Thursday 15 January.

Officials at the Fullicks Stadium say they are delighted that their successful youth development work is being highlighted again by last season’s top scorer, pictured, who is now playing in the Tigers development squad after making his debut in a recent 2-1 win over Scunthorpe United.

* Invicta will head to south London to take on Tooting & Mitcham United on Saturday with a familiar face in their ranks after receiving international clearance from Australia this week for striker Richard Atkins to return to action in the club’s colours after he played down under while travelling.
