Terrors take title the hard way!

Tooting & Mitcham United's Ryman South champions are being hailed by the club's grateful fans and officials this weekend after winning one of the hardest fought and tightest title battles in the south London club's long history.

As Terrors supporters, former players and fellow Non-League clubs took to social media to heap praise on Frank Wilson and his champions, esctatic officials at the KNK Stadium led the way after their 1-0 defeat at runners-up Dorking Wanderers on Saturday saw them claim their first outright league championship title since 2001 on goal difference alone!

After more than 600 fans at Westhumble saw Ryman League chairman Nick Robinson present the champions with their silverware, pictured, the Terrors tweeted: "We did it! After a long hard campaign Tooting & Mitcham Utd were finally crowned Ryman League South champions. Heartiest congratulations from everyone at @OfficialTmufc to all the players, management and back room team on a fantastic achievement!"

Their rivals needed to win by five clear goals to steal the title on goal difference after both sides finished on 105 points and the Terrors added: "The home side did grab and unexpected winner towards the end although this failed to interrupt the party behind the goal. An amazing season with only one down side - the loss of Ashley Robinson, who has heard the call of the north and emigrates back there shortly. His passion and power will be missed."

The Ryman League's chairman and his directors and officers congratulate all at Tooting & Mitcham United on winning the championship and promotion back to the Ryman League's top flight for the 2017-18 season after an absence of five seasons.
