Terrors trials pay dividends

Tooting & Mitcham United's new manager Craig Tanner has invited 20 players to continue training with the Ryman League's Terrors after more than 60 turned up for open trials.

Former Terrors captain Tanner took over at the KNK Stadium in June. He's now looking forward to the Ryman South campaign with his backroom staff also taking shape following the appointments of Adam Moriarty as assistant manager last week and the confirmation of Frank Wilson as reserve team manager.

The Terrors are heading into a pre-season programme that includes tests against a Crawley Town XI and a Norwich City Under-21 team and Tanner said: "It's been very busy but quite exciting as well. We had about 60 turn up last Saturday and we have invited 20 back for an extended pre-season.

"A lot have played at a higher level or in reserve team football but over a day it is very difficult to assess pedigree. Hopefully, over the next few weeks we will be able to get a better look at them."
