Terrors urging fans to get voting!

Tooting & Mitcham United are hoping the Ryman South club's fans can help them win a cash boost from The Aviva Community Fund to bring a community pavilion back to life.

The Terrors need the backing of supporters to give a dilapidated cricket pavilion near their KNK Stadium a makeover and turn it into a community venue for locals and the south London club.

Club volunteers, who've been working to renovate the Farm Road Community Pavilion since last year when it was reduced to a burnt out wreck by vandals, could get a cash boost of between £10,000 and £25,000 to complete their work if enough fans can persuade their friends and families to vote in the insurance giant's community competition.

Open to community groups and clubs across the UK, The Aviva Community Fund is expected to finance over 800 projects across four different funding levels and six categories in 2017 after voting opened on Friday October 21. Fans have until November 18 to register their votes before judges start sifting through the entries from around the UK.

Urging fans to vote, a club spokesman said: "The pavilion has been repaired to the shell and core with electricity, gas and water re-established. We are now at the fit out stage and looking to install a commercial kitchen, changing rooms, offices and a communal space.

"Obviously, the above requires financing, but once the project is up and running will become self-sustaining. The pavilion will be a meeting place bringing life back to the community and allowing all ages to meet and exchange experiences regardless of ability, age, faith or ethnic origin."
