A Classic Rams XI from the last decade will kick off in a testimonial for long-serving Ramsgate midfielder Ben Laslett after the Ryman South campaign ends next month.

The 30-year-old has made more than 400 appearances for the Kent club since signing from Sittingbourne in 2004 and officials announced on Thursday that the testimonial would kick off at the Southwood Stadium at 3pm on Saturday 10 May.

The Rams’ legend played in the back-to-back promotion winning sides but missed a season due to a hip injury, returning strongly for the 2007-08 Isthmian League Cup winning campaign.

Laslett, pictured on top of the pile of his teammates after they’d won the cup, collected Ramsgate’s Players’ Player of the Year accolade two years later in 2009-10 and captained the club during 2010-11 season.

Laslett broke into Deal Town’s first team from their youth ranks in January 2000 and spent a brief spell at Sittingbourne before switching to the Rams where he’s played a key role in midfield and the club’s backline ever since.
