Thomas in speedy return to dugout

Ex-Godalming Town manager Dean Thomas has made a swift return to the Ryman League with Walton Casuals.

Thomas, who parted company with the Surrey and Ryman South rivals of the Stags before Christmas, is working alongside Matt Howard at Church Road as joint number two to manager Anthony Gale.

The former Farncombe Athletic and Guildford City boss, pictured, took to the touchline for the first time in the club's 0-0 Boxing Day draw at Corinthian-Casuals only days after leaving the rock-bottom G's.

Thomas, who guided his former club to a 3-2 victory over the Stags in December in his penutlimate game in charge, told waltoncasuals.com: “With the circumstances of what happened at Godalming Town, the opportunity to get straight back involved and work with a manager who has the passion and desire of Anthony was a no brainer for me.

"I’m really busy with work commitments so I’m happy to take a step back and work with Galey as a number two. It’s good to have some stability."

He added: “Walton Casuals are not only a great club, but a fantastic side with some excellent footballers. With the management and people behind the scenes, the club is moving in the right direction and it’s great to become a part of it.”
