Harlow Town manager Danny Chapman has added two more players to his Ryman North squad after signing former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder James Smith at the weekend.

Left-back Layne Eadie, 20, signed on Tuesday from St Albans City along with experienced goalkeeper Dean Neil, originally a product of the Saints’ Academy scheme.

The experienced keeper was last with Ryman North rivals Redbridge and has also played for Thurrock, Harlow Town, AFC Sudbury, Billericay Town and Dagenham & Redbridge. Eadie, who likes to attack and possesses genuine pace, spent the season before last at Southern Premier Division oufit St Neots Town before re-joining the Saints.

Smith, 24, pictured, spent last season at Eastbourne Borough in Conference South. He picked up an injury at the end of the season and was released.

Smith, who spent the opening months of the current campaign training with Enfield 1893, started his career at Walthamstow youth team Interwood. His former coach there, Trevor Bailey, brought him to Crystal Palace at the age of nine where he worked his way through the youth ranks before earning a pro contract in 2008.

In August 2009, Smith signed a one-year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion before moving on Leyton Orient in 2011 followed by a brief spell at Dover before joining Borough in November 2012.
