Tough debut for new U21s manager

New Cray Wanderers U21s manager John Paul Collier is preparing to make the toughest of touchline debuts next Wednesday night in the Ryman U21 Development League.

Named by the Ryman South's Wands on Friday as the successor to Phil Foster following his exit in November, the former player-manager at Holmesdale FC and joint manager of Beckenham Town takes charge of his bottom of the table side for the first time in midweek at Ryman Development North League leaders Billericay Town.

Collier, pictured, has played for East Grinstead Town and Erith and Belvedere in recent seasons and has been appointed until the end of the season to turn around the club's debut campaign that has seen his new charges collect just two points from their first ten games. He will be assisted by Ciro Donadio and goalkeeping coach Matthew Bartlett.

A Wands spokesman said: "We wish John Paul all the best with his role as U21s manager and full coverage of the clubs progress and results can be found on the club website and social media."

Despite their current lowly position, the U21s have produced a succession of first team graduates this season while playing their home games at Holmesdale FC’s Oakley Road Ground, Charlie Foster, Joel Massamba and Edgar Morais all making their first team debuts in league and cup fixtures. Sean Law, Charlie Horbacki and Dillon Green have also been unused subs for Tony Russell's senior side.
