Trophy replay now next week

Dulwich Hamlet manager Gavin Rose was forced to take his Ryman Premier giant-killers training on Tuesday after their Buildbase FA Trophy quarter-final replay at Macclesfield Town was postponed only minutes before they were due to travel.

After drawing 2-2 with the Silkmen on Saturday in front of a season best crowd of 2,834 at Champion Hill, up to 500 Hamlet fans had to cancel their travel plans after the last eight replay at Moss Rose was called off with a waterlogged pitch.

The south Londoners - who were due to travel up on three coaches laid on by the club and by car and train - are now hoping to play next Tuesday night for the right to meet former Football League giants Tranmere Rovers in the semi-finals of Non-League's showpiece competition.

Disappointed Hamlet spokesman Martin Eede said: "Everyone was disappointed but these things happen and we will all be there next week. Gavin took the lads training in Bromley as we should have been playing in the league tonight anyway and we have a big game on Saturday coming up at Worthing."

York City and Lincoln City will meet in the other two-legged semi-final following the draw at Wembley stadium. As well as place in the final on Non-League Finals Day at the national stadium on May 21, the winners of the semi-finals in March will bank £16,000 in prize money to add to their £8,000 reward as victors in the quarter-finals.
