Trophy winners will fold unless successor is found

Barkingside have launched an urgent hunt to recruit a new U21 manager to keep their trophy winning side going in the wake of Danny Lee's switch to Ryman North rivals Harlow Town.

Lee, who guided the club's youngsters to triumph at the end of March to lift the Essex County FA's Junior Saturday Trophy, pictured, moved on to the Harlow Arena this week with the blessing of Barkingside chairman Jimmy Flanaghan.

However, officials are warning that unless a suitable replacement is found soon the club will be forced to disband their side and withdraw from the Ryman U21 League when the competition enters its third season in September.

A decision will have to be made on entering the competition within the next week and in a statement on the club's website, potential candidates were urged to come forward and contact the club's chairman.

A Side spokesman said: "Although the club are disappointed to see Lee leave, we are pleased for him as he has a great opportunity at Harlow. He leaves with the club's blessing and also knows that he is always welcome again at the club.

"As a result of Lee's departure it means that the club may not have an U21 side next season. If anyone feels that they have the ability and requirements for the role, they can contact chairman Jimmy Flanaghan."
