Tuesday night Cup round up

By Ian Townsend

Last night our sides took part in FA Cup Preliminary Round Replays- and the First Round of the Velocity Trophy

Last night saw our clubs take part in two cup competitions; The FA Cup and the Velocity Trophy. Performance of the night undoubtedly went to Heybridge Swifts, who took their goal tally to fourteen in four matches this season with a 6-1 victory over Haverhill Rovers in their Preliminary Round Replay.

Swifts will be joined in the First Qualifying Round by Faversham Town, Corinthian Casuals, Lewes, Barking, Shoreham and Carshalton Athletic, all similarly victorious in their replays. Sadly Sittingbourne bow out, losing at home to 1-0 to Southern Combination Football League side Pagham.

Tonight (Wednesday) Whyteleafe and Romford will attempt to join the victors in the next round, as they visit Erith Town (at VCD Athletic) and host Stowmarket Town, respectively.

In the First Round of the Velocity Trophy, a much changed Harrow Borough side took an early lead against Metropolitan Police before conceding three second half goals. In the other tie of the night Wingate and Finchley continued to improve, winning their second match in three days when clinically despatching Haringey Borough 3-0.

In the only other fixture this evening, Thamesmead Town take on Cray Wanderers in the Kent Senior Cup.
