Ryman League North Division

There was no shortage of goals in Ryman North on Tuesday night with pride of place going to Harlow Town who hammered promoted Barkingside 8-3 at Barrows Farm, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Michael Akande gave the Hawks a ninth minute lead but Side, who won on Saturday's opening day to the campaign, equalised when Paul Kavanagh netted from the penalty spot. But by the time Mark Doyle scored the visitors' second just past the hour-mark Harlow were 4-1 up, thanks to Shane Stamp, Alex Read and Junior Dadson.

Dadson scored the fifth, Read bagged his second and Robbie Martin made it 7-2 before ex-Harlow man Andy Edmunds reduced the deficit. Chinedu McKenzie restored Harlow`s five-goal margin in injury-time.

Heybridge Swifts won 5-2 against visiting Waltham Abbey to become one of five clubs to win their opening two matches. Two goals for Luke Callander and singles for Russell Malton, Reece Morgan and Michael Cheek, secured the three points for Swifts – Tom Bruno and Joe Pearman responding.

Witham Town made it two out of two and joined in the goal party with a 4-2 win over visiting Ware. Leigh Rose opened the scoring for the visitors on 14 minutes before Lewis Godbold equalised two minutes into the second half.

Ware regained the lead through Dave Hunt six minutes later but goals for Sam Taylor on 56 minutes, James Stevens on 73 and Tom Wraight five minutes later saw Witham claim the win.

Needham Market, Aveley and VCD Athletic were the other sides to make it six points from the opening two games.

Market won 2-1 at promoted Burnham Ramblers, taking the lead through Jamie Guy on the half-hour mark before Brad Hunter pulled the Essex side back on terms just before the break. Luke Ingram grabbed a winner for the visitors on 65 minutes.

Aveley won the Essex derby at 2-1 Oakside against Redbridge, thanks to a stoppage time winner. Leslie Thompson had put the Motormen in front after he converted Jack Carlisle’s 39th minute cross. But the game changed on the hour-mark as Redbridge right-back Bostry Bansende was sent-off for his second bookable offence.

The Millers made the most of their numerical advantage, substitute Anton Stephenson heading them level 18 minutes from time. And then Ross Wall’s 93rd minute winner broke the resistance of the ten men as Aveley came away with all three points.

VCD left Tilbury still looking for their first point with a 3-2 home success. James Pinnock gave the Dockers a 32nd minute lead that James Duckworth equalised seven minutes later. Nick Reeves then put the hosts in front from the spot 12 minutes from time and Lee Craig made sure with a third five minutes later.

Maldon & Tiptree were on the wrong end of a 4-0 thumping at Wroxham. Paul Cook broke the deadlock by giving the Yachtsmen the lead three minutes after half-time and Sam Harty doubled that just past the hour-mark. A quickfire Remy Gordon brace completed the rout.

Cheshunt grabbed their first victory of the new season and were another side in rampant mood as they scored four times in the second half to beat newly-promoted Dereham Town 4-1. Will Holmes opened the scoring with a shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

Joe Clemo followed that up with fierce strike before Miles Mitchell-Coop headed home from a corner. Dereham grabbed one back, direct from a free-kick, but Michael Deane took advantage of some poor defending to complete the scoring for Cheshunt.

Soham Town Rangers won 2-1 at AFC Sudbury, with James Hall giving the visitors a 41st minute lead. Jamie Forshaw levelled on the hour-mark, only for Ben Sawyer to win it for Steve Fallon's side six minutes later.

Romford condemned Watham Forest to bottom spot with a 4-0 thumping at Ship Lane. Abs Seymour gave Boro a 21st minute lead that Kurt Smith doubled four minutes later. Paul Clayton added a third right on half-time and then Ryan Imbert bagged a fourth on 57 minutes.

Relegated Thurrock gained a first three point haul at Chatham Town, breaking the deadlock on 62 minutes through Lewis Spence before Corey Holder levelled four minutes later. Callam Ibe grabbed the all-important winner in time added on.
