Ryman Premier leaders Maidstone United made it four games without a win on Tuesday when they were beaten 2-1 at the Beveree by lowly Hampton & Richmond Borough, who have now beaten all of the top three this season, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A goal from Jamie Calvin on 14 minutes followed by a fine Charlie Moone effort on 27 minutes gave Hampton a deserved lead. But the decision to dismiss Tchongang Ngessa on 35 minutes for what the referee decided was denying a goalscoring opportunity left the Beaver holding on for the rest of the game with ten-men.

A Billy Bricknell header on 71 minutes pulled one back to give Maidstone a glimmer of hope but the Beavers held on to take the points and move ten points clear of the drop zone.

Two other strugglers, Witham Town and Tonbridge Angels, met at Spa Road and shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

The scoreline was 1-1 at half-time after Ryan Charles' opener for the Essex hosts was cancelled out by Marvin Williams for Angels 10 minutes later.

But there was an astonishing five minute spell and two quick-fire goals straight after the break, Ryan Blackman putting the hosts ahead on 48 minutes before Joe Taylor headed past Martyn Guest from a Mitch Pinnock cross to level the scores.

Both sides had chances to claim the three points after that but the draw leaves Garry Kimble`s side four points above fourth-bottom AFC Hornchurch while Angels are seven points better off than Witham in seventeenth.
