Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Hendon moved seven points clear of sixth-placed Leiston in fourth spot in the Ryman Premier on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Greens inflicted a massive blow on Witham Town`s hopes of staying in the division with a 2-1 win at the Village Glass Stadium.

The visitors could barely have got off to a better start when Connor Mead unfortunately beat his own keeper inside the opening two minutes. Danny Emmanuel pulled the Essex side back into the game on the half-hour mark but 15 minutes from time, Aaron Morgan won it for Gary McCann`s side.

Bognor Regis Town travelled up to Essex to take on East Thurrock United with both sides looking to move into the top five but they shared the spoils to remain seventh and ninth respectively.

Top scorer Ollie Pearce gave the visiting Rocks a 13th minute lead that Mitch Gilbey cancelled out with 18 minutes left on the clock.

Wingate & Finchley were also looking to overhaul fifth-placed Metropolitan Police when they travelled the short distance to Earlsmead to take on a Harrow Borough side who started the evening in second-bottom spot.

But Harrow’s best performance of the season saw them record their first ever league victory over their North London neighbours.

A breathless start to the game saw David Knight give the visitors a fifth minute lead that Ben Long levelled a minute later and then Lewis Driver made it 2-1 to Boro just four minutes on.

Marc Charles-Smith then drove home a penalty before second half goals from David Taylor after 70 minutes and Ryan Hope six minutes from the end saw Boro go nap and give themselves a huge boost in the scrap against the drop.

Another of the strugglers, AFC Hornchurch, have been caught by Harrow after they suffered a disappointing 3-1 home reverse by a Leatherhead side now only four points off the top five.

After a promising start, with a goal in the fourth minute from Tobi Joseph, Leatherhead equalised with a Jerry Nnamani header and then went ahead in somewhat controversial circumstances though a free-kick from Vasieleious Karagiannis on 72 minutes. An own goal from Elliott Styles in the final minute secured the points for the Tanners.
