Ryman League Premier Division

There were three matches in the Ryman Premier on Tuesday night and all were important in terms of the promotion and relegation battle, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

At the top end of the table, Margate strolled to a 5-1 victory against struggling AFC Hornchurch to record their first league game in five matches.

Terry Brown`s side had the game virtually sewn up in the first half-an-hour, with Zac Attwood after five minutes, Freddie Ladapo 11 minutes later, Ben Gerring on 25 minutes and Tambeson Eyong on 30 minutes reaping the awards of some fine attacking play.

Attwood grabbed his brace in the 90th minute after Kieron Bishop had scored a 65th minute consolation for the Urchins.

With three points needed to virtually guarantee safety, Peacheaven & Telscombe went down to 1-0 away to another of the strugglers, Witham Town.

The only goal of the game came in the 25th minute when a handball decision in the box. Chris Bryan converted the resulting penalty.

Witham move out of the bottom four as a result of the win, while Peacehaven are still in fifteenth place, seven points above the drop zone with six games to play.

Harrow Borough are level on points with Witham and in fourth-bottom spot after beating another of the drop contenders, VCD Athletic 2-0 at Earlsmead.

Lewis Driver gave Boro a 29th minute lead in this `six-pointer`. And then 10 minutes into the second half Michael Peacock doubled Boro`s lead – a lead they held on to.

The defeat leaves the Vickers five points behind the safety-mark with six games left.
