Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Margate were beaten four times in a thrilling 4-4 draw with fellow Ryman Premier high-flyers Hendon last week and they conceded four again on Tuesday night but this time could only manage three in response against Billericay Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

A disappointing March just about scuppered the title hopes of Terry Brown`s but they were still looking to pip Hendon for the runners-up spot heading into the play-offs. That now looks unlikely after their 4-3 defeat against the Blues at New Lodge.

Billericay opened the scoring through Afolabi Obafemi after 10 minutes before Ben Gerring levelled for Gate just past the half-hour mark. But four minutes later Obafemi restored the Blues` lead to take a lead into half-time.

John Beales brought Margate back on level terms on the hour-mark. And then Margate took the lead for the first time in the match in the 78th minute when Zac Attwood scored from the penalty spot.

However, Keaton Wood brought the scores back to 3-3 as the clock ticked into stoppage time. Margate then lost Jamie Stuart to a red card for dissent before Rowan Liburd headed in a corner to seal Billericay's victory.
