Turner has faith in Faversham

Faversham Town manager Ray Turner reckons he won’t lose faith in his squad despite seeing his much-fancied side kick off the new Ryman campaign with two defeats.

Turner's Ryman South team lost only twice on the road all last season but went down 5-3 at Walton Casuals on Saturday before suffering a 3-2 reverse at home on Tuesday night to last season’s beaten play-off opponents Hythe.

Turner told kentonline.co.uk on Thursday: "We started similarly last year, if I remember correctly and I can’t complain about how the season turned out. It just seems to be that we start slowly here.

"I can’t put my finger on why that is but if we finish as strong as we have done, then I won’t have too many complaints. I’ll not get carried away with being bottom of the league as we could easily be sat here top of the league with six points and I wouldn’t get carried away then either, although I’m sure some people might do."

He added: "I am not about to lose faith in a group of players who have done so well for me. There is a fine line between six points and no points and we were close to six."
