Wednesday's Ryman Premier action review

Ryman League Premier Division

Wednesday night's only Ryman Premier clash at Mill Field saw mid-table Grays Athletic host a Hampton & Richmond Borough side still in need of points to avoid being sucked into the relegation dog-fight, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, for a second successive match, the Beavers were beaten, despite breaking the deadlock right on half-time through Tom Collins. And seconds later in nine minutes of first half stoppage time, it got even better for the visitors when Charlie Moone doubled their lead.

But a 52nd minute penalty from Jamie Stevens reduced the deficit and then player-manager Mark Bentley headed his side back on level terms on 66 minutes.

Ten minutes later a scuffle involving Moone and Grays goalkeeper Conor Gough led to both being sent-off, with Bentley having to take over in goal as Grays had used all three substitutes.

Five minutes later, Mark Onyemah was brought down in the box, but sub Ben Osman's spot-kick was saved by Bentley`s legs. The manager`s heroics looked like earning the Blues a point, but that turned into three as, with seconds remaining, Joao Carlos fired a powerful effort past Beavers` keeper Mark Smith from 20 yards.
