Enfield Town's run of four successive wins in the Ryman League's Premier Division came to an end on Wednesday night at the Dripping Pan against Lewes.
The 2-1 win lifts the Rooks to seven points clear of the drop zone, while Town stay in fifth, a point above sixth-placed Leiston.
The home side took a 10th minute lead when Jack Rowe-Hurst beat Towners keeper Nathan McDonald from an acute angle. But the visitors were back on level terms on the half-hour mark when Aryan Tajbakhsh fired home from the edge of the area.
However, it was the Rooks who won it after a mix-up in the Enfield defence led to new loanee Emmett O`Connor netting on his debut.
Wednesday's other game saw Grays Athletic make it eight games unbeaten and increase Tonbridge Angels' relegation fears with a 3-1 Mill Field victory.
Harry Agombar gave the Essex side a 13th minute lead that Dumebi Dumaka increased after 35 minutes.
Grays were dealt a blow five minutes before the break when they had Jordan Wilson shown a straight red card following a high challenge on Jack Parter. However, just two minutes later the ten-men made it 3-0 with a second for Dumaka.
Angels managed a consolation 10 minutes from time through the returning Billy Medlock but it was too little too late.
The defeat leaves Steve McKimm`s side just three points above the bottom four while Grays are only three points adrift of fifth-placed Enfield with a game in hand.
