Wednesday's Ryman South review

Ryman League South Division

Guernsey suffered their first away defeat of their inaugural Ryman South season on Wednesday night when they went down 2-0 at Leatherhead's Fetcham Grove.

Ian Draycott gave the hosts an early lead that they held on to and eventually extended. Despite seeing plenty of the ball, the Green Lions struggled to penetrate the Tanners defence as they looked to get back in the game before the break.

The trend continued in the second half before Leatheread grabbed their second to seal the win, substitute Leroy Griffiths tapping home on 73 minutes after another counter-attack from the hosts.

After Wednesday night's only other game Walton & Hersham are just four points off a play-off place following their 2-1 win at Herne Bay.

Dean Grant sent Bay into the break 1-0 up after his 27th minute opener before Juan Montalban struck twice, levelling the scores on 65 minutes before snatching all three points with a winner nine minutes from the end.
