Ryman League Brentwood Town have brought former manager Les Whitton back as manager to replace the departed Steve Witherspoon.

Witherspoon brought to an end his second spell in charge of the Ryman North Blues two weeks ago after taking charge in 2011. Town confirmed the appointment of his replacement on Friday in a statement posted on their official website.

As well as Brentwood, Whitton, who's taken over with immediate effect, has also managed in the Ryman League at Romford, Aveley and Ilford and assisted his brother Steve at Newham United. As a coach at Bishop's Stortford, he gained three promotions in four years and two more in a coaching role at Ford United.

During his playing career Whitton turned out for Oxford United, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gravesend & Northfleet and Dartford.
