2021-22 Supporters Predictions- revisited: South East

By Ian Townsend

Last summer our supporters predicted the outcome of the Pitching In Isthmian South East- let's see how they did, and who was a surprise package.

The reason that bookmakers are universally wealthy is that picking the outcome of sporting competitions is rather difficult, and each season our supporters tend to prove that when they predict the outcome of the campaign about to start.

Time to compare and contrast, with the Pitching In Isthmian South East up next.

You started rather well, indeed you had three of the top four. You didn’t need to contact a soothsayer, perhaps, to predict that Hastings United would take the title, but you were only two places out for Cray Valley PM and one for our play off winners, Herne Bay.

You expected that runners up Ashford United would miss out on the play off’s, however; and your predictions for Whitehawk and VCD Athletic turned out to be extremely optimistic, particularly in the case of the Hawks, who were fighting at the wrong end until almost the end before securing safety.

You missed out on predicting the success of Haywards Heath Town, and you were far too optimistic about the chances of Corinthian, Three Bridges and Sittingbourne, none of whom were ever in danger of departure- but you did place Lancing exactly right, in eighteenth.

Whitstable Town and Phoenix Sports would have loved you to be right!

Thanks for taking the time to predict. Your predicted tables are pinned up on dressing room walls in many places at the start of the season, and may prove an inspiration to a number of sides desperate to prove them right- or wrong!
