3G or not 3G? That is the question...

By Ian Townsend

...and it's one we're asked regularly, given it never stops raining. So here is a list that might help!

In these days of high-volume rainfall and high-volume postponements, social media is awash (perhaps that's the wrong word given the circumstances) with questions of whether matches are likely to be on, or not. Often the clubs in question have 3G pitches, which- unless there is heavy snowfall- usually survive every annoying deluge, so we thought we'd list the clubs which have them, as it might help with planning- particularly if you are a groundhopper!

So, without further ado, here are our clubs who are lucky enough to have 3G pitches.

Pitching In Isthmian Premier

Billericay Town
Carshalton Athletic
Chatham Town
Cray Wanderers (currently at Bromley, from next season at their very own Flamingo Park)
Haringey Borough
Hashtag United (currently at Bowers and Pitsea, from next season at Aveley, both 3G)
Horsham
Margate

Pitching In Isthmian North

Bowers and Pitsea
Heybridge Swifts
New Salamis (at Haringey Borough)

Pitching In Isthmian South Central

Ascot United
Southall (at Burnham FC)
South Park Reigate
Sutton Common Rovers (at Whyteleafe)
Uxbridge

Pitching In Isthmian South East

Ashford United
Chichester City
Herne Bay
Lancing
Ramsgate
Sevenoaks Town
Sheppey United

Clubs, please let us know if you have forthcoming 3G plans or perhaps we've mistakenly missed you off the list. We'll try to repeat this regularly every season so that the information is widely available.

By the way, clubs with 3G pitches tend to have them available to hire. Don't hesitate to contact them if you've a youth side looking for somewhere to play, or perhaps you're a club from outside of our League looking for groundshare options!

(We would add that Bognor Regis Town have plans to lay a 3G in the near future, and that some of our clubs have fabulous drainage systems- Lewes, for example, have a grass pitch but it is very much state of the art, Brightlingsea Regent's pitch is renowned to have enormous water resistance properties, etc!)

Where next?

A fine day for Hornchurch, who didn’t play! Both Chatham and Billericay lose- Carshalton and the Tags the victors- whilst Horsham go fifth. Rooks and Gulls deliver a late show, but have to settle for a point each
