A clash of the (North) Titans!

By Ian Townsend

The top two in the North Division fight it out tonight- and both have strengthened

Second versus first. Last Friday's victors versus the league leaders. However you want to describe it, tonight's match between Aveley and Basildon United is a clash of the North Division Titans!

In the League, United have the upper hand. Nine matches unbeaten, but with draws in the last two after seven straight victories, they sit seven points clear of the second place Millers. But did last Friday change the balance of power between these two- Aveley defeating United 2-1 at Parkside in the FA Trophy?

Both sides have strengthened. Indeed, the Millers have strengthened on and off the pitch, adding James Roach- most recently of Bishop's Stortford- to James Webster's coaching team, before sealing the signing of defender Jake Pitty from Canvey Island- according to the Gulls website.

Basildon have also been busy, bringing in former Tilbury midfielder Toby Aromolaran. Toby scored twelve goals for the Dockers last season.

The match kicks off at Parkside at 7.45 PM.
